Michael  Caruso

Michael Caruso, 95, of Ford City, passed away at QLS Sugarcreek in Worthington, on Sunday, July 23,2023. Born April 20, 1928 in Sagamore, he was the son of the late Anthony and Michelena (DiBattista) Sottile and the adopted son of Nunzio and Elizabeth (DiBattista) Caruso. Michael was a lifelong resident of the community. He was the Executiive Director of the Housing Authority of Armstrong County for 27 years. He was a longtime member of Christ, Prince of Peace Catholic Church, the Elks, the Knights of Columbus, and the Latin American Beneficial Society. He was a referee for PIAA,WPIAL, and Eastern Conference College Football League. Michael was a proud member of the Armstrong County and Ford City Hall of Fames.In addition to both sets of his parents, he was preceded in death by the Caruso siblings: Frank Caruso, Nado (Flo) Caruso, Paul (Betty) Caruso, Fred (Marge) Caruso, Orlando (Albina) Caruso, and Victor (Rachel) Caruso: the Sottile siblings: Nancy (Charlie) Cirifalco, John Sottile, Jean (Joe) Masonis, Frank (Annette) Sottile, Josephine (Richard) Jakubisin, Andrew (Genevieve) Sottile, Betty (Larry) Bertel, and Anthony Sottile. Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Geraldine (Claypool) Caruso, whom he married November 26, 1955; daughter Karen (Mark) Mancini of Aliquippa; son Michael (Mary) Caruso of Murrysville; grandchildren Anna Marie (Bryan) Bohland, Alyssa Mancini, Mikey (Boltz) Honeck, and Niccolo Caruso; great-grandchildren Ava and Max Bohland; sister-in-law Sara Sottile; and numerous nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends in the Mantini Funeral Home, Inc., 701 Sixth Avenue, Ford City on Wednesday, July 26,2023 from 4-8 P.M.. Additional visitation will be held on Thursday, July 27,2023 from 9 A.M. until time of transfer prayers at 10 A.M. at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted in Christ, Prince of Peace Catholic Church at 10:30 A.M. with Father Alan Grote as officiant.
